In 2008 medical issues and huge medical bills forced us to declare bankruptcy and the house was foreclosed on. Wells Fargo filed in January 2009 and never followed through with the court until I called the attorneys and WF many, many times. The court finally finished the procedures in February 2010. (If the so called loan modification department would have offered us what they finally sold it for we could have kept it.)

We have been renting and saving money for the time when we could buy another house. We are looking in a much lower price range since my husband can no longer work.
Should we be looking for something in a rent-to-own property or a land contract purchase? When could we qualify for a mortgage on a regular purchase? And what kind of loan should we be looking for?

But My agent feels that seller may start the process afresh with new listing agent or may completely withdraw the property from the market as the property values have risen in the area.
Its very confusing but I have no idea who is telling the truth. Do I have a chance here? Can somebody help me understand what could be happening here.

I’ve just recently gotten serious about purchasing a home/townhouse in the Arlington/Alexandria area. Although RedFin appears tempting, I am having reservations. I enjoy the “do the research yourself” approach as I am a researcher, but I’m concerned about their willingness to put up a good fight for their clients. I don’t expect to pay $350 for a $400 house, but I want to know that the agent is definitely fighting for me instead of just looking at that 1.5% commission. I know you have said that you aren’t anti-redfin, but for a first-time buyer, do you think the piece of mind of being with a dedicated agent trumps a few thousand dollars in commission return? More importantly….how can I hire you? :) You seem extremely knowledgable about the area. Thanks….wait, did I ask you a question? Long day.

On Good faith estimate the loan originator stated the following figures to be charged by him/his bank (in addition to credit report fee):
1. Application Fee $495
2. Underwriting fee $795
3. Document review fee $225

Other details: Local MD lender, primary residence, no origination points 20% down, conventional financing.

Will someone please chime in and shed light on these charges?

PS I understand these fees always differ from lender to lender, that is why I want to know whether they’re reasonable (in your opinion)

Or if the map could just list everything in the price range without a keyword.
